Do you want to put your data science skills to use in campaigning for clean air? Greenpeace East Asia is looking for a skilled data analyst based in the Nordics to work with our Global Air Pollution Unit, supporting our work to promote clean energy, clean air and environmental protection. About us: Greenpeace exists because this fragile earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action. Greenpeace is present in 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. The Greenpeace Global Air Pollution Unit supports Greenpeace offices and external partners across the world with research, data analysis and expertise related to air quality and fossil fuel emissions. We deploy cutting-edge satellite datasets, analytical methods and atmospheric modelling tools to track the sources, trends and health impacts of air pollution. The position is a full-time temporary position starting as soon as possible, and ending 12 months after the starting date.  The position will be based in one of the Nordic capitals and require travel. Responsibilities: provide data processing, analysis and visualization to support Greenpeace's work for environment and sustainable energy across the world. This can include time series data, databases of energy sector projects and facilities, and large spatial datasets on air quality download, process and prepare data for further modelling and analysis proactively develop ways of analysing and presenting data, and innovate on using big data to drive Greenpeace climate & energy campaigns About you: BSc. / Masters in Computer Science, or related degree with equivalent work experience. Preferably two years’ experience in data science or data analytics, with documented relevant experience Proficient in independent data analysis and visualization, using R, Python or similar platform. Experience in database building and maintenance Fluent in English; other languages, particularly major Asian languages, a plus Experience in spatial data analysis and visualization is considered an advantage We do not require in-depth knowledge of environmental issues, as you will work as a part of a team of energy and environmental specialists, complementing their issue expertise with data skills.
